The roots of SynthPop Radio go back to my teenage years. Back then, a group of friends and I decided to create our very first radio station: the 44 Radio Network. Yeah, it was a weird name, but it was just a place where friends could throw on music, experiment, and have fun. We weren’t focused on genres yet—just a little bit of everything. Those early days were full of great memories.

A couple of years later, we wanted to be more structured and professional. The name “44 Radio Network” felt off, so we rebranded as Global X Radio. By then, we had more experience: commercial breaks were polished, station IDs were clean, stingers were in place—we were running a proper radio station. We even live-streamed from clubs around Philadelphia, focusing on industrial, EBM, and synthpop. Those were exciting times.

But as life went on, friends drifted away—some got jobs, pursued other creative paths, or moved out of state. The energy of hanging out, planning shows, and going live faded. I stayed, taking over Global X Radio and keeping the music alive, but something was missing. The name “Global X Radio” didn’t convey our genre focus, and the station wasn’t growing.

That’s when I decided to rename the station SynthPop Radio. And let me tell you—the change was incredible. With a clear genre focus, playing synthpop, dark wave, and futurepop, the station truly took off.

Today, SynthPop Radio continues to bring you the latest in synthpop, dark wave, and the darker side of futurepop, blending timeless classics with cutting-edge sounds, and keeping the spirit of electronic music alive for fans around the world.
